A beautifully restored 200-year-old olive mill and farmhouse, set high in the foothills of the Sierra Almijara.
Finca El Cerrillo is a small, independent hotel surrounded by mature gardens, olive trees and sweeping views across the Andalusian countryside. Historic without feeling precious and relaxed rather than formal, it is somewhere to settle in, slow down and very quickly feel at home.
Built For Another Time. Perfect For This One.
Long before it became a hotel, La Finca was a working Andalusian farmhouse and olive mill, with olives still being pressed here until the mid-1960s.
Its history hasn't been polished away. Thick walls, old beams, terraces, patios and the original Mill Lounge all carry traces of the building's past, while careful restoration has brought the comfort you want from a small hotel today.
The result is character without ceremony: a place that feels as though it has grown into its surroundings because, over two centuries, it has.

There is no grand hotel formality here. The welcome is warm, the atmosphere easy and guests are encouraged to treat La Finca much as they would the home of good friends.
Perhaps the best measure of that is the number who return year after year.
Find a chair beneath the trees. Take a book into the garden. Meet for a drink before dinner. Spend the afternoon by the pool. Join everyone else, or disappear somewhere quiet for a while.

The mature terraced gardens wind around the finca through palms, carob trees, sunny patios and shady corners, with the mountains appearing between them.
At the heart of the grounds, the swimming pool and deck look out across the valley. Elsewhere you'll find the finca's olive grove, a Moorish day bed beneath an old carob tree and plenty of places where doing very little feels like an entirely reasonable plan.
Inside, the Mill Lounge offers deep sofas and a log fire for cooler evenings, while the library is stocked with novels, maps, guidebooks and local information.
And then there is the honesty bar.

A Space to Create Together.
La Finca has long welcomed groups who come here to paint, write, practise yoga and spend time doing something they love. At the centre of that is a dedicated, flexible studio designed to work just as well for quiet creative work as it does for movement and group sessions.
The light and airy, air-conditioned studio measures approximately 11m × 8m, with space for up to 20 people. It opens directly onto a courtyard patio, extending the working space outdoors when the weather - as it often does in Andalucía - makes that irresistible.
For painting and creative groups, work tables, portable easels, stools and drawing boards are provided, making it possible to arrive and get on with the reason you're here rather than organising equipment.
And when the session is finished, the pool, gardens, terraces and the rest of La Finca are waiting just outside the door.
The House-Party Feeling.
Warm, relaxed and wonderfully informal - somewhere it’s easy to feel at home from the moment you arrive.
Breakfast starts the day. People drift through the gardens, head out into the mountains, read by the pool or disappear into the studio. Later, everyone might meet over dinner on the terrace, wander into one of the nearby white villages or settle into the lounge for the evening.
You can join in when you want to and retreat when you don't.
And that is perhaps what makes La Finca difficult to categorise neatly.
Perhaps that’s why so many guests don’t simply stay at La Finca....
