The Finca Story

Some places have more than one life.

Built over 200 years ago beside the village of Canillas de Albaida, it began as a working wine press before becoming an olive mill - the role it would play for much of its life.

Its working past is still part of the fabric of La Finca, from its thick stone walls, old timbers and original features to the olive trees that continue to produce oil today.

and the story continues

The days before the hotel

When the mill closed in the 1960s, an American artist made La Finca his home, beginning a new chapter for a place that had, until then, been shaped by agriculture.

At the beginning of the 2000s, it changed again when Sue and Gordon transformed the old mill into a small hotel - preserving its character while creating somewhere guests could come to stay, gather and experience this beautiful corner of Andalucía.

Over the next two decades, people came from around the world. Many returned. And La Finca became the place so many know and love today.

the next chapter

Still evolving. Still La Finca

In 2026, Donna and Jaime became La Finca's latest custodians - taking on its history, its traditions and everything that makes this place feel quite unlike anywhere else.

Now they're looking to what comes next: new ideas, new experiences and new reasons to return, while protecting the warmth, individuality and sense of connection at the heart of La Finca.

After 200 years, there are still new stories to tell.
And perhaps you'll be part of one of them.

MORE THAN A TIMELINE

A story made in moments.

Two hundred years can be measured in dates, owners and different chapters.

But the life of a place is made up of much smaller things.
Meals around the table. Conversations that run late. First mornings and final evenings. New friendships, familiar faces and countless ordinary moments that become part of the story too.

And there are plenty more still to come.

THE PLACE PEOPLE COME BACK TO

Some things haven't changed.

La Finca has had many lives, but perhaps the most important part of its story is the people who have passed through its doors.
Some came for a holiday. Others came to walk, paint, write, practise yoga or spend a week doing something they loved. Friendships were made around the table, familiar faces returned and, somewhere along the way,

La Finca became more than simply a place to stay.
The next chapter may bring new ideas and new experiences, but that feeling is something worth holding onto.

After all, the best places aren't simply visited. They're returned to.
